2nd Annual Lewisburg Goat Festival

Boer Goat Show
Lewisburg, TN
October 9, 2004

Clear Creek Farms was happy to compete in an International Boer Goat Association show close to home. This was the second year of "Goats, Music, and More" in Lewisburg; and the Taylors put on an great, smooth-running show. There were over 240 goats entered in the Boer show this year....with some of the top breeders in the southeast participating. As always, we enjoyed seeing our old friends and enjoyed meeting new ones.

KWM's TIFFANY

Under the big tent at the Lewisburg Goat Festival, Tiffany Hallmark showed KWM's Tiffany for us. In a class of 23, we were pleased with a 13th placement.

KWM's OPHELIA
Ophelia turned 6 month old the day before the show and had to compete against older doelings. Once again Tiffany handled our doeling in the ring. Ophelia finished last, but Tiffany did a great job showing off Ophelia's good qualities.

KWM's STAR TOPAZ
Our next does was suppose to be Topaz, who took a fifth in the Lewisburg Show last year. However, just before the show started, we noticed she had a limp. After futher examination, I noticed she was limping on the foot that I had trimmed a little too close. We strached her.

KWM's QUEUE

Next up for us was the over 2 but under 3 year old Senior Does. Thursday afternoon when the does were returning to the barn, we noticed how good Queue looked. Queue had never been shown and was, for the most part, unhappy on a lead. We gave her a bath, manincure, and walked her for a couple of minutes on a lead. She responded favorably.

At the show, she was housed in the same pen with the smaller does and tried her best to beat them up. Tiffany took Queue into the show ring, with some difficulty; but Queue settled down. Once inside the ring, Queue's head was high; and she acted as though she had been shown all of her life. One look by the Judge, and she was picked as the winner. The rest of the judge's time was spent placing the other six goats.
Tiffany's job inside of the ring was made a lot more exciting after Queue had been placed in first place. Queue got bored and tested Tiffany's goat handing skills. Tiffany proudly showed off her battle scars and a big smile from taking a first place in a 'Big' Show.
Venus was the last to show. Because of her habits in the ring, I decided to show her. Judge George Aslschwede had placed her fifth in the Cullman show earlier this year, and he repeated the placement in this show. Personally I thought she should have placed better, but.....
