USBGA Cedar Country Fall Classic
Wilson County Fairgrounds
Lebanon, TN
November 5, 2005

The last show of the season, Nov 5th 2005, was held on an unseasonably warm day in Lebanon TN.

We decided to take nine does to the show. We talked with our normal exhibitors, but they were not available due to other commitments. We then talked Brittany and Brandon Mitchell into assisting us at the show. Brittany told us she would be happy to assist if she could show KWM Kattie’s Glory.

We packed up three old brood does, a yearling, and five doelings and headed north with the Mitchells.

At the last show, Brittany asked if there was something she could do at or before the show; she needed tasks. We assigned her a couple of task - blowing drying each of the goats following their stay on the wash rack, making sure the water buckets were always filled, and, because we had three doelings in one class, she was to show a 6 – 9 month old doeling.

Brittany hard at work setting up Charm

Brittany was assigned Li’l Mtn Charm, Brandon took CCF Patience, and Ken took Li’l Mtn Destiny who had never been shown before. Charm and her exhibitor out showed Ken and Brandon, taking a second, Destiny a third and Patience came in fourth.

In the next class, Ken took in Babe and Brandon took Trudy, Jr. Both were outclassed and finished out of the ribbons.

With five doelings shown, we had a second, a third and a fourth. Already a good show.

Li’l Mtn Charm returned to the ring for the USBGA ‘Championship Drive’. She looked good but returned to the pen empty-handed following the selection of the Grand and Reserve Champion.

It was now KWM Kattie’s Glory’s time to enter the ring, with Brittany in control. According to Casey Hallmark, Glory can win with anyone showing her. I added, even Brittany. The judge loved Glory and placed her in First Place. “Blue Leads – Blue Ribbons.”

Brittany was thrilled and let Brandon know it!

For the yearling ‘Drive’, Ken took Glory into the ring. The judged check out the first place winners of all the yearling classes and then took the microphone and stated that the yearling she has selected for the Grand Champion was the most complete yearling she has seen in a long time - then walked over to Glory and presented Ken with the Rosetta.

Glory's first "leg" toward ennoblement.

Now for the senior does. Brandon took Honor in the ring and took a first place ribbon.

Queue was next; Ken earned a red ribbon.

Not bad for an "over 5" doe!

Finally it was Venus’s time to ‘SHOW’ … and she did. As she entered the ring, something scared her; but she soon regain her composure, threw her head back, and strutted around the ring. The judge asked Ken if this was the mother of the Grand Champion Yearling? No Glory’s mom, Kattie, died of ketosis. After several minutes of evaluation of all the goats in the class, the judge pointed to Venus with a single finger, indicating first place. Both Ken and Venus seemed to be tickled.

For the Senior Does ‘Drive’, Brittany took out Honor; Ken took Venus; and Brandon took out 2nd place Queue. We though we might have a chance for a Senior Doe Grand or Reserve, but not today.

We took 3 first places, 2 second, 1 third, 1 fourth and 2 did not place. A Great Show. Brittany and Brandon both did great jobs setting up their does; maybe we will be able to talk them into showing again.

KWM Kattie’s Glory is now one-third of the way to being ‘Ennobled.’
