Web Design Through Clear Creek Farms -- Pages designed by goat herders for goat herders

Well, I have been busy creating the Bluebird Ranch web site (www.thebluebirdranch.com), and wanted to show off some of the tricks I did with Photoshop. I got 25 pictures, most of which were decent enough to use for the site, but there were some minor flaws to the pictures. The most common problem is lighting. There are various filters and adjustments I run to fix those. But, more recently, I have begun to fix the pictures themselves. See below for examples.


This was a good picture of the red barn. I really did not have to do much to it except crop it and go. There was one thing that bothered me about it. To the right of the barn was a vehicle. So, using the clone stamp tool, I was able to remove the vehicle and replace it with some of the "natural " landscape

This was a good picture of a potential herd sire for sale, but it was behind a fence. When I cropped and resized the picture, the fence was even more prominant. So, I removed it, again with the clone stamp tool.

Here was a dark picture of Lil' Red. I brightened it and adjusted the colors so you could see him a bit better.

There are some subtlies to this picture that I didn't like. I knew I would crop it in a landscape fashion, but that made a pole from the fence go rigth through the doe's head. So, I removed the fence. Also, you may be able to tell that there is a shadow on the doe's face, caused from a piece of hay growing out of the ground. I removed both the hay and the shadow. And, P95 was too dark, so I cut him out, and fixed the colors on his head and body to reflect better lighting.

Finally, I had a good picture of the pond, and I had a good picture of a doe. But I thought they would be better together. Since the dried field has a dull color, I spiced it up with a more vibrant orange/yellow feel. Then, I cut out the doe and put her in a much better place (at least I would rather be by the water than in the other field). It is one of the tenets of tourism photos. "Get a good one of me with the Eiffel Tower in the background." No one wants to just see pictures of me, and no one really wants me showing them pictures of the Eiffel Tower, but somehow, putting both of those together seems like a good picture. Well, the bluebird on the fence seem seems to think so.
